The Dollshouse
The Doll’s House is like the book, an unfinished, but life-long project commitment. Except that it is far more progressed than the book and has been near completion for twenty years.
It was started in 1997 when I was out of work, it sits on my kitchen table still in 2021, twenty-four years later. I was requested to build it for my daughters to play with but not even I could have imagined that it would take so long.
I didn’t want something that would fall apart easily, so as I had time, at the time, I built something a battleship couldn’t destroy. My vision and design was too complicated and needless to say the children grew up knowing all about the dollshouse, but not actually ever seeing it except in progress on the kitchen table.
